Now onto face makeup tricks to make your skin looking flawless and highlighting all of you beautiful features. Another facial tip is contouring. This technique highlights and defines your best features on your face. There are many ways to do this, there is just a simple way that I will show you and then there is a more personalized way of doing it, by finding the shape of your face and contouring it to that specific shape. The more simple way is by using bronzer and a highlighter to frame your face. You put the bronzer right under your cheekbone, the sides of your nose, the tip of your nose, and around the edge of your forehead. Then you apply the highlighter on your cheekbone, sides of your mouth, your chin, the top of your nose, and middle of your forehead.

When applying lipstick you always want it to stay on longer, well here is a way that can help your lips stay on for hours! First, clean off your lips to make sure nothing is on them, like dry skin or excess makeup. Then, apply a little bit clear chapstick to add moisture to your lips. After that is done use a makeup sponge or your finger to spread around the clear chapstick. Use a beige eyeliner or a lipliner pencil to shape the outer side of your lips. This will prevent leaking from the lipstick. Then apply the lipliner pencil that you want to use with your lipstick. After that is done you may apply the color you want on your lips. Lastly, gently place a tissue over your lips and dab clear powder into the tissue to get on your lips!

The last trick I am going to tell you is about eyebrows. Eyebrows are one of the most important elements that makeup your face, so why not make them look perfect! An important tip is to make sure you use a powder and not a pencil because the powder makes them more natural looking. First, you want tweeze them to get any unwanted hair, then start by drawing a line on the bottom of your eyebrow. Make sure you are going in the shape of your eyebrows. Then draw a line above to in the shape of your brow. Lastly, blend and fill your eyebrows in, than BAM perfect eyebrows. (Always use an angled brush when applying powder)

Are Leggings Considered Pants?

A recent debate in the fashion world is whether leggings are considered pants or not. From arguments on fashion websites or even Facebook pages that are trying to ban the use of them, a lot of people are feeling pretty emotional about the subject. They are deemed unprofessional and sloppy looking and even celebrities are criticized for wearing them.

Pants, as a definition is, “an outer garment covering each leg separately and usually extending from the waist to the ankle —usually used in plural” (Merriam-Webster). So therefore leggings must be considering pants, although they do sometimes come in Capri form. Even since they are tight, they still fit the definition, because after all, a tight shirt is still in fact a shirt.

They are a very comfortable alternative to pants, if you wear them under the right circumstances. Whether you’re going to class or to the gym, or even running errands, it is appropriate so wear them. They are comfortable enough to sit in for hours on end and pair well with most things; they even come in a variety of patterns and colors, but it’s usually better to just stick to a solid black or gray.

Leggings are still very inappropriate to wear somewhere professional. No one should ever be caught wearing them to a job interview or somewhere else where impressing would be done. They might make your butt look good, but that’s isn’t what will be getting you a job.

So in all, they should be a staple in every college girl’s closet, unless they’re see-through of course. Although these are a great essential item, try not to wear them every day, and please for everyone’s sake, try to stay away from ones that are the same color as your skin tone.

Here are some ways to wear them the right way:

hair trends

(Picture from styleonmain.net)

Ida DiMichelle is the owner of Salon West Endz. She is sharing a few tips, tricks, and trends for hair. Ida has been working in this field since she was eighteen. She started out at a salon in Drexel Hill, PA called Cuz & Company, and than she decided to make her own in West Chester, PA called Salon West Endz. She has been in West Chester for about 6 years now. It is middle to an upper class salon. Many of the clients there share great bonds with many of the hairdressers and workers. You get a very nice, warm feeling when you come in; with lots of welcome from the hairdressers and workers. Ida knows inside and out of all different ways to treat, cut, and color your hair. Here are some of her tips that you can take with you:

  1. What tips can you give people to make their hair more bouncy?
    1. First tip that I would recommend, that is also the simplest would be get a trim because it will get rid of the split ends and damaged hairs. Another easy one would be to use some kind of oil is Moroccan oil. That can give nutrients to your hair that will help it be less dry. Another oil that is good for your hair would be almond oil. The fatty acids in almond oil are a fantastic moisturizer. Lastly, try to always take a proper shower. The best is through colder shower, but you can also use tricks like avoiding plastic combs because they can make your hair have static and damaged ends. When using conditioner leave it in for at least ten minutes to really soak into your hair.
  2. What ways can people do simple hairstyles in a short amount of time?
    1. First one would be to use a blow dryer with a round brush and curl your ends with it. Make sure to always use heat protection and you could always add in a volume control cream. This one can be tricky but if you practice you will get better. I find a lot of different tricks and tips on Pinterest. That website teaches me more tricks than I even know! There is a lot of cute ways to do braids, ponytails, buns, and half up half down hairstyles on Pinterest. My favorite hair accessory is bobby pins. Always have a pack of them because they can make your hair look so cute with 2 minutes. They are great for putting your hair half up and half down and for adding accent pieces like a braid on the side or your head.
  3. Do you know any DIY hair tips to make your hair healthier?
    1. First I would say use some home remedies, and they are by applying something with a lot of protein in it, which is like eggs, yogurt and honey. You can find a lot of different tricks using some of these products, especially online. You want to apply it all you’re your hair and especially your ends, the longer you keep it in the better.
  4. What trends for spring 2015 are in for hairstyles?
    1. Boho ways
      1. Boho ways is a big one that has been coming up. If you want to try an easy way it would be to French braid your hair down the middle at night and sleep on it. Another way that makes it look like real boho waves would be by using a curling iron. The size that is best for this look would be a 1inch to 1and ¼, depending on the length of your hair. After your done curling it run your fingers or a wide-tooth comb through your hair and add a touch of hairspray.
    2. Long tails
      1. Long tails are just pony long ponytails. They are very cute and can wear them casually or even going out. The best way is to tease the crown of your head, or top half, and then gently brush it back into a ponytail. It adds great volume and a nice and different look for when you go out.
    3. Braids and twists
      1. This kind of hairstyle you can go pretty much anywhere with. It looks really nice when you add some little braids in your hair and pin them back. You can even make the braid look like a headband. There are a lot of tips for this hairstyle on Pinterest.
    4. Big buns
      1. The easiest way to create a big bun would be by using a sock or some kind of doughnut shaped item. That would be the simplest way, or you could put your hair in a ballerina bun and push some of it out to make it look better and then clean it up by using some bobby pins.
    5. Big blowouts
      1. This style is becoming more popular. How you complete this style is by using a blow dryer and a round brush. After your hair is almost dry, you want to go back to the roots of your hair with the blow dryer and brush and use the round brush to pick up some of your hair. After you pick up the hair you add the heat from the blow dryer and the hold the brush at the top of your head for about 5 to 10 seconds then let it go and repeat. This is what adds the volume to big blowouts.
    6. Using materials in your hair
      1. This is becoming more popular to teens and young adults by adding flower headbands or little fake flowers into braids. It just adds something cute in your hair.
    7. What hair colors are in for spring 2015?
      1. Dark reds
        1. A lot of people have wanted dark reds because it is not to dramatic in color if you have brown hair. It adds a touch of color with some different tones.
      2. Dark brunettes
        1. This is kind of like the Kardasian’s hair color. It is a very dark brown. This color is very sleek and sexy.
      3. Carmel blondes
        1. Instead of having that platinum blonde a lot of people are going for a more natural blonde. It makes the hair less damaged than platinum blonde does and add a lot more tones and movement to your hair.
      4. Balayage highlights
        1. This is a new technique that a lot of salons are using. Instead of the usual highlights and foils you use plastic wrap to cover your hair. When the hairdresser puts on the bleach it is more of where you want blonde tones to be, like in the front of your face. With this look you do not have to go every 4 to 6 weeks to get your highlights done. The way it is placed in your hair makes it look natural and without roots.

Spring Trend: How to Wear Fringe

Fringe has come along way since its first mainstream look on your everyday cowboy who sported some sweet chaps; it is now a staple for your wardrobe this spring. The 70’s are definitely in full swing, but instead of drowning in a full fringe outfit while simultaneously looking like your going to western themed costume party, there are a few easy ways to incorporate tassel inspired statement pieces  into your wardrobe that will keep you on trend.

Fringe Shoes

Fringe is all the rage in shoe stores everywhere, from cute spring booties to strappy sandals. A little side or front fringe will go along way  in accentuating your shoe. Plus you can stay extra trendy and buy a suede pair to go along with the 70’s  fringe.

Another fun piece to mix into your spring wardrobe is a fringe skirt. Anything from a fringe layered mini to a pencil skirt that reveals skin from the knee down, in the form of fringe of course. Varieties are endless in the skirt department, and any color will do. Added perk: fringe swaying in the wind while you walk somehow makes you feel outrageously amazing. Image from Harpersbazaar.com

Fringe Purse

If your not into wearing the fringe but you still wanna stay on trend, sticking with a simple purse that has fringe accents will work wonders. Plus suede fringe bags come in array of colors, to add a pop of color to any spring outfit.

How to get the Perfect Selfie (Célfie)

Todays “trend” of the selfie has had a huge impact on how we take pictures and who knows how long they will be here, so why not learn to perfect them so long as they still exist! There are key rules to achieving the “perfect” selfie and here is where you will find them. These tips might just be what you need to catch the eye that cute boy on Instagram who you play “like tag” with (note: like tag is when you like a person’s picture on Instagram and they like yours back and so on until you get each others number… and then fall in love). So let’s get started! Tip one of taking the perfect selfie is SUN. To obtain the best selfie possible avoid artificial lighting, your light source should be above eye level, anything below that will result in an unnatural and unflattering look (YIKES). The preferable time to use natural lighting is around sunrise or sunset; it leaves you with a red warm glow that compliments any complexion.

Our second tip is to find the right angles that compliment your face the best. Holding your phone or camera of choice above eye level results in a slimmer jaw line, but not to high, doing so results in an elongated nose, enlarged forehead and zeroing in on those pesky eye bags (Don’t worry, staying up and watching 90210 on Netflix until an un-godly time was SO worth it last night). If you cannot find the perfect angle, why not create them by contouring. Contouring is the art of shading and highlighting to bring out or lessen features). When contouring you should focus right below your cheeks, towards your temples and ears for the most successful and flawless look. The third tip to taking that perfect selfie is ditching the filters! You don’t need to add 1930’s Dust Bowl to your selfie in order to create that look you have been searching for. The piece de resistance to the ultimate selfie is … practice! Who would have thought that the old saying “practice makes perfect” would apply to my daily instagram post? Well, anyway, I hope these tips have helped any of you ladies out there searching for that perfect “recipe” for the perfect selfie.
